Turning 20
Today, 18 November 2010, marks the first day of my twenty-first year walking this planet. I am eternally grateful for being able to make it thus far into my life.
I am one of those girls who grow up defining birthdays as:
- getting showered with heaps of gifts and presents of all shapes and sizes
- a celebration with family and friends complete with fancy-schmancy birthday cakes
- making wishes before blowing out the birthday candles
- people making efforts to pull well-planned pranks
I used to get disappointed when people forget to wish me happy birthday, buy me a present or prepare a cake. But then I thought, birthdays are not all about how many birthday wishes you got, how expensive your presents are or how delicious your cake tastes.
Late last night, I celebrated my birthday with a small group of close friends at a mamak stall. I am so grateful for their time and planning. Having a small birthday celebration is as grand as any other big-scale birthday celebration. It’s the company that matters. Not forgetting the food: kutuparutta and the cleverly-crafted birthday ‘cake’ made by darling Ham.

It’s nothing much compared to the cakes from mummy bakery, but I love it! It’s unconventional and hey, it’s the thought that counts, right? :]
I wanna thank my friends who planned supper:
- Edmund
- Yu Han
- Ritchie
- Ryan
- Ben Li
- Wai Chun
- Jeremy
- Bel
- Kerry
…the guys who helped darling to make the ‘cake’, and of course, my Hammie darling himself. :D Thanks for making my day. I love you all. :)
