Be Part of ChurpChurp Today!

So I assume that everyone in the virtual world knows what Twitter is. You know, the microblogging service hosted on a website which asks “What’s happening?”, hoping to get a 140-character answer from you?

Um yeah, the one with the little birds. These aren’t the official mascots of Twitter, though. But enough with these birds. I would like to introduce all of you to another bird, cute and blue like the ones above, but from a younger generation.

Here he is. Say hi to the mascot of ChurpChurp!

Now, I know what all of you are thinking.

He’s so much cuter compared to the Twitter birds!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww……………………… *pat*pat*

ZOMG HEZ SO ADORABLEZ CAN I JUST POKE HIZ EYEZ THEY ARE LIKE THE PUZZ IN BOOTZ EYEZ I AM FALLING IN LOVE WITH HIM HE’Z SO CUTEZZZ!!

Right. Now, hold those thoughts and let me tell you about ChurpChurp.

ChurpChurp is Nuffnang’s sister company, and it brings avid social media users together. But unlike conventional social media websites, ChurpChurp REWARDS its users for sharing promotions and events on Twitter and Facebook. How, you may ask?

To begin with, ChurpChurp is a social media solutions network which utilizes Twitter and Facebook as part of its service. Like all social media addicts, we get most of our influence from websites like Twitter and Facebook. Now, how can we share our influence to benefit others? Tweeting about ‘Aww, my cat died today’ isn’t exactly how you would come about it. This is where ChurpChurp comes in.

Read the ChurpChurp FAQs for more in-depth information.

After clearing your doubts, head on here to sign up as a Churper! Here’s why:

  • You get to hear news about the latest events and promotions first hand!
  • By tweeting about these events and promotions, you indirectly get to increase your follower count. It’s a win-win situation for you!
  • You get to participate in various types of fun-filled community events
  • The best part of it is… wait for it… the REWARDS! You get rewarded in terms of money for your ChurpChurp updates. How awesome is that? Passive money generation FTW!

Imagine being blessed with the presence of these cute little birds when you join ChurpChurp. XD

On another note, ChurpChurp recently organized a Fly Kite Day at Taylor’s University which I couldn’t attend because I am currently in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Perak. Which sucks, because I love community events like these and I can’t possibly make my way down to KL too often. :(

Here’s an idea: ChurpChurp should organize a Go-Kart Racing Day in UTP. It’s possible, because PETRONAS has organized F1 demonstrations in our university. Robert Kubica was here in 2009. ;D

The F1 car, complete with barricades and all.

Smoking tyres!

If UTP can play host to the F1 team, ChurpChurp can definitely organize a Go-Kart Racing Day here. ;)

Another activity that ChurpChurp can hold in UTP would be kayaking. We have our own kayaks and we have two huge lakes to kayak in. Now wouldn’t that be fun? So really, ChurpChurp should consider organizing these two activities here in UTP because we have everything you need! And it’s a great way to make new friends here up north. :D Bring along the little birdy and share!

So what are you waiting for? Join ChurpChurp right now!

Celcom BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone - The Best of Both Worlds

So there is this piece of news going around about the new BlackBerry scheduled to launch today (29 October) with super hot deals. Well, that day has finally arrived. Today is the official launching of the almighty BlackBerry Torch 9800! And who is behind it all, but none other than Celcom, Malaysia’s No.1 BlackBerry community with the widest coverage.

Alright, first things first, what is the BlackBerry Torch 9800 and how does it differ from all the other BlackBerries out there? What makes it stand out?

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is a product of one of the smartphone pioneers in the market - BlackBerry. It possesses the same features you will expect to come from your smartphone, but in a more enhanced package. The BlackBerry Torch 9800 sports a 5-megapixel camera, an 8GB memory expandable up to 32GB with a micro SD card and an updated OS which gives the phone its first full web browser. Also not forgetting the push email and instant messaging capabilities AND the integrated social feeds which are the cores to our smartphones nowadays. ;)

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 differs from other smartphones and it is special because it is the world’s first smartphone with a full 3.2-inch touch screen and BlackBerry keyboard.

This is such great news! One cannot have enough of a touch screen AND a keyboard. But first, tell me more about the BlackBerry Torch 9800’s touch screen.

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is said to feature BlackBerry’s best touch screen experience yet. You can do all sorts with the touch screen - touch, hold, tap, double tap, slide, pinch. All these gestures need a little getting used to, but the experience will come naturally, and you will find yourself apt at these touch screen gestures in no time! You can move your finger really fast on the screen and still maintain the 1:1 ratio of amount of movement on the display to your finger’s movement; perfect for fast-motion games! :D

In addition to the QWERTY keyboard, the touch screen software keyboard is pretty easy to handle too. It is quite effortless (physically) to type on and it makes less noise compared to the QWERTY keyboard. Are you holding the title ‘SMS King/Queen’? Annoy everyone around you a little less by texting noiselessly!

Wow, this I must have! But what is the use of a BlackBerry keyboard if there is already a touch screen? *wonders*

For starters, don’t get too overwhelmed with all the buttons on the device. You should know that the all-famous BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard is optimized for fast and accurate typing. This allows you to compose emails and messages at ease. The same goes for BBM (BlackBerry messenger), one of the unique factors of BlackBerry phones. Master the skill of speed texting without looking at the screen and you’ll never find yourself bumping into poles and pillars anymore when texting on your phone!

Also, a QWERTY keyboard wouldn’t be complete without - keyboard shortcuts! Did you know that the BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard has keyboard shortcuts available for you to utilize? Well, now you do. Use the keyboard for phone shortcuts, message shortcuts, typing shortcuts, browser shortcuts, media shortcuts and also calendar shortcuts. With all these heaven-sent shortcuts, what more can you ask for?

Whoa, that is practically all I need in a smartphone. I am so getting it already! When and where can I get it? How much does it cost? *excited*

In fact, you can get it today at Pavilion KL (Bukit Bintang Entrance) from 3PM-10PM! Celcom is offering the craziest and most unimaginable deals ever! No kidding, seriously. Check this out:

  • The first 10 customers can get the Blackberry Torch 9800 for RM8,
  • the next 100 customers can get it at RM488,
  • and the following 100 customers can get it at RM888!

All you have to do is sign up for the Celcom Exec of Celcom Biz plans TODAY at the launch event! Celcom will be throwing in some freebies as well! Now can you say AWESOME and I LOVE CELCOM!!!

Holy smokes, I missed/can’t attend the event! What am I gonna do? I want, I NEED the phone! *pulls at hair*

Aww, don’t agonize over the fact the you missed out on the launch event. Knowing Celcom, they are bound to offer more affordable deals for the BlackBerry Torch 9800, and they have! Just look out for the Blue Cube outlets nationwide and pop in to get your BlackBerry Torch 9800 with affordable packages from 3 November onwards!

*hyperventilates* BLACKBERRY AND CELCOM I LOVE YOU!!!

Now that’s the right thing to say! The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is going to be a hit and all of you out there should be uberly excited to get your hands on this model, simply because you can have the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS! No more squinting at teeny-tiny small screens while reading a Facebook status update; you have a 3.2-inch touch screen for your reading pleasure, only 0.3 inches smaller than the iPhone 4. No more whining over mistyped messages and tweets; you have the BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard at your disposal, just a slide away. And the best thing is, it is one thing the BlackBerry Torch 9800 has which isn’t available on other smartphones. Beat that! XD

As for Celcom, I have to say that you really deserve the title ‘Malaysia’s No.1 BlackBerry Community’. Hats off to you!

Know that you can get the best deals in town and the widest coverage wherever you go from - Celcom BlackBerry. So go ahead. Do the right thing.

Adam Lambert Glam Nation Tour Live in Malaysia 2010 - The Experience

14 October 2010, Thursday

Ham and I took an 8.55PM bus down to KL. The journey took three hours. We took an LRT to Dang Wangi LRT station and set off to hunt for the Nuffnang office at Jalan Yap Ah Shak. We managed to find the office at Heritage House. Ham rang the doorbell. Then a lady opened the door and let us in. The Nuffnang office is so orange! X) The lady handed me my tickets. Then I had to sign a receipt. It was then that I turned in the other direction and saw Timothy Tiah! But was not thick-faced enough to ask for a photo. Everyone looked busy. :( Oh well.

After getting all hyped up upon getting my tickets, we headed to Bukit Bintang to meet up with Martin and Sean at Hotel Nova. When we got there, Martin was busy dressing up with new clothes, gearing up for the concert that evening. He suggested dropping by Times Square to grab more ‘gear’. So that we did. A lot of time was spent at iSocks. =.=

We headed to Marcel’s place in the evening. I was exhausted so I slept while the boys showered and got dressed. Then I got dressed in a long top, shorts and boots. :) Marcel lead us to Putra indoor stadium, which wasn’t very far. I had trouble walking fast, thanks to the boots.

When we got there, there were riot police trucks everywhere (and everyone would know why) =.= *cough*PAS*cough*

The concert was awesome! I can’t believe I actually saw Adam Lambert. And I cannot fathom how he lost to Kris Allen in American Idol. Martin claims that it is due to the gay conspiracies but that’s not fair! X(

After the concert, Ham and I headed to Vista Komanwel C2 to visit Kavita. It was a surprise. I managed to get details of her home from Sharmela earlier during the day. Thanks Mela! :) we talked and talked and talked. Boy, do I miss the twins now. :’(

I was feeling really tired and my feet were sore - thanks to the boots - so we headed back to Marcel’s after midnight. We had yummy nissin instant noodles courtesy of Marcel! It’s a tradition to have instant noodles there every time we sleep over. ;)

15 October 2010, Friday

All of us got ready by 9.30AM. We dragged our asses on to the LRT to Bukit Bintang. Martin and Sean left for their hotel while Ham, Marcel and I went off to meet Eva. Our next stop was Pavilion KL. Dragon-i for lunch! Lunch was on Eva. Or should I say Uncle? Haha :D

We walked around Pavilion until Eva had to leave. Then Marcel had to leave for class. The  two of us dropped by Hotel Nova to meet Martin and Sean and to drop off our bags. At 3.00PM, we met at Times Square. Nothing interesting happened except that Julian and Vanessa joined us there.

After much pointless loitering around Times Square, we moved on to Sungei Wang Plaza. Marcel joined us again. Dinner at KFC. Then Ham and I had to leave for KL Sentral to catch the 9.45PM train to Ipoh.

We rushed back to Hotel Nova to collect our bags. Then we had to stop by to give the hotel card key back to Martin. We were under the impression that we were going to be late. We rushed to KL Sentral to find that we were 20 minutes early. And that was when the drama started.

The train delayed 30 minutes. So we waited at the KLIA terminal. Ham went to sit on the massage chair while I sat on the floor and guarded his phone and my iPod, which were charging. Martin called after a few minutes, saying that Ham left his garment bag back in the hotel. We panicked, but couldn’t do anything to get it back but to call Marcel and get him to collect it from Martin and keep it in his apartment.

Ham and I then left to the departure gate, only to find that the train has been delayed again. =.= This time we didn’t leave the gate, but sat nearby, charging phone and iPod again. Half an hour later, another announcement was made, saying that due to unforeseen issues, they couldn’t let us know the ETA of the train. X( Pissed, Ham walked off to ask about refunds. Later, we just left KL Sentral for Hotel Nova. So yeah, we got a room there for RM175 and I told Seng Yee that I couldn’t make it for the PPT field trip. What a waste. :[

That ends the story of my very eventful weekend. Now, back to the books. X(

I bring me good news

Today brought two good news to me.

1. Adam Lambert Glam Nation Tour Blogging Contest

Four days ago, I read about the Adam Lambert Glam Nation Tour Blogging Contest organized by DiGi and Nuffnang. I decided to join. Now this is saying something as I never take part in contests organized by Nuffnang because of low self-confidence and too much competition. =.=

I whipped up a blog post in about 30 minutes and submitted my entry.

So I waited and waited.

And guess what I received in my email inbox today.

I freaking won 2 DiGi Zone tickets to Adam Lambert’s concert! The DiGi Zone - a.k.a. the Sponsor Zone - is right in front of the stage. Adam Lambert close-up omg. :D

I will, of course, be giving the other ticket to my darling Ham, who is the world to me. I am gonna paint his nails black and force eyeliner on him. *rolls sleeves up*

Ok, jk, it won’t happen. *rolls sleeves back down*

2. Camera issue for my travels

I got permission from Papa to bring his Canon 450D with me when I go outstation in the months to come! Mind you, I’ll be visiting quite a number of places so it will come in handy. ;)

And that’s that. DiGi, Nuffnang and my dad practically made my day today. :D
