Where are you studying now? What course are you currently pursuing?

I am currently studying in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, located in Tronoh, Perak. This year (2010) will be my second year pursuing Chemical Engineering under the PETRONAS Sponsorship.

How many sisters do you actually have? What are their names? Do you have any brothers?

I have four sisters. They are: Mildred (14), Magdalene (11), Marie (10) and Maybelle (6). And as much as I want one, I have no brothers. :(

Why are all your screen names “michkirszanelee”?

I had two names added to my Christian name when I was confirmed in 2005:

Kirstin, a name given by my aunt;

Sherzane, a name given by a close friend.

This made up Michelle Kirstin Sherzane Lee, which eventually became michkirszanelee.

Why are you always hanging out with guys? Don’t you have girl friends?

I do that a lot because for one, I believe that guys are not very judgmental of others compared to girls. I find that I can be my true self without being having to live up to others’ expectations when I’m with them. Also, my boyfriend, best friend and I share the same group of friends (from their school) in Kuching. So we basically hang out together when we are back home. I do have girl friends who were my classmates in middle school and high school. Occasionally, we go out and do girl stuff together. Other times, we keep in touch through Facebook. :)

In university, I do not have a lot of girl friends. I would say that the problem lies with my not being able to speak Mandarin. Because of that, there is a communication barrier between me and the other Chinese girls. On the other hand, the guys are able to speak English to me and are also willing to translate Mandarin conversations for me. Naturally, I would prefer to be able to speak up rather than sit in the dark throughout a conversation.
